Whether your wedding invitation suite is classic and elegant, or full of color and whimsy, even the humble edge of the paper can amplify the essence of your design so that it resoundingly sets the tone for the celebration to come. Here are some examples how edge painting, edge gilding, beveled edges, deckled edge paper, and corner rounding can add that extra "wow" to your invitations.
Deckled Edge Paper
We love thick, cotton stock for our letterpress invitations, but for a more romantic, delicate effect, you can't beat the feathered edges of a deckled paper. The uneven contours are the hallmark of handmade paper, and the "roughness" varies from a soft, cottony, relatively straight edge to sheets with much more irregular shapes and contours.
Due to the unpredictable nature of the stock, tight alignments and full-bleed printing are not possible with deckled papers, unless torn by hand after printing.
Rounded Corners
The smooth edges of a rounded corner lends a classy elegance to an invitation design. Round two opposite corners for modern flair. We love how the rounded corners reflect the deep rounded flap of the envelopes in this suite.
Edge Painting / Edge Gilding
Our most popular embellishment, a painted edge adds a subtle pop of color to the outer straight edge of your invitation cards. To achieve this gorgeous effect, a stack of cards on extra thick stock are clamped together and painted, or applied with metallic leaf.
A solid color might accentuate inks already on the invitation, or add a new pop of color to create a richer design palette. A metallic painted edge adds a bit of glitz and glam without going over the top, while a gilded edge takes it to the next level. For something more playful, an ombré effect brings a whimsical and colorful twist to a classic design.

Beveling
The literal "cutting edge" embellishment - beveled invitations on extra thick stock have their edges cut inwards at an angle. When combined with paint or gilding, a beveled edge creates a dramatic strip of color that can be admired from every angle.
