Kids' Crafternoon :: Upcycled Envelopes and Stationery

Monday, July 9th, 4:00-5:00pm, $25

In the first of our summer Monday Crafternoon series, we invite letter writers of all ages to join Abigail of YEIOU in learning how to take magazine pages, random artwork, or used wrapping paper, and turn them into gorgeous, upcycled envelopes and personal stationery. Bring along any old magazines or papers  you may have (we'll have plenty, too) and you'll leave with a collection of envelopes and stationery as well as templates for continuing to make your own.

Join us for any one or all three of our Summer Crafternoons - three Monday afternoons in July from 4-5pm. Our kids' workshops are recommended for ages 7 and above and include one participating adult (welcome but not required). Abigail McMurray is a local designer and paper engineer who loves to push the boundaries of what can be accomplished with card stock and double-stick tape.

ArtBeat Somerville

Saturday, July 14, 11:00am-10:00pm, free

Join Albertine Press and 75 other crafters, over a dozen bands, dance troupes, local food vendors, and more for Somerville's annual summer arts celebration! Davis Square will be shut down all day for the craft festival until 6pm,  with music and dance performances continuing at  many stages throughout the square well into the evening.

This year’s ArtBeat theme is “flip”, a celebration of all things upside down, backwards and sideways. Artists and community members will explore how flipping things around can change your point of view. Does flipping things make them better, or worse? How does the idea of flipping things around inform a work of art or concept? “Flip” evokes many things: rapid change; inverting the status quo; changing your mind; flipping a coin; flipping houses; or turning the whole world upside down!
