Cigar Box Coptic Journal

Cigar Box Coptic Stitch Journals

Saturday, June 29th, 10am-2pm, $80

In this four-hour intensive, participants will use a Coptic stitch binding method that dates back to the second century to create a unique and sturdy journal made from repurposed cigar boxes. Bookbinder Richard Pollock-Nelson will supply students with a variety of boxes to choose from and teach his own developed two-needle variation of the coptic stitch to design a strong book that opens flat for easy writing or sketching. Enrollment limited to six participants.


Intro to Brush Lettering

Thursday, July 11th, 6-8pm, $70

If you've ever wanted to try your hand at brush lettering, what better way than in a relaxed, small group setting with a glass of wine in hand. Amelia & Natasha of We're Into It will lead you through this workshop to learn the basics of hand lettering with brush pens.

All materials are included in registration, including a take-home kit of all the brush lettering materials you need to get started – brush lettering workbook, a set of brush lettering pens, materials to create a custom piece, and a personalized gift.


Intro to Letterpress

Saturday, July 27th, 10am-2pm, $75
Sunday, August 25th, 10am-2pm,, $75

Learn to print with hand-set type! Attendees will learn type composition with real lead letters, proper lead form setup and page layout, how to set up, use and clean a Vandercook proofing press, and how to trim the prints to size. The focus will be on technical skill with an eye for producing a beautiful result while also learning some of the history of letterpress printing and the current renaissance in letterpress. Every participant will take home a set of monogrammed A2 note cards and a set of personalized calling cards.
