11/14: Linocut Journals for Beginners

In this 2-hour workshop, participants will be designing, carving, printing and binding their own edition of pocket journals. From imagination or based on a prompt, we'll come up with designs that are optimal for single color printing, and get you familiar with all the tools for continuing this practice at home. By the end of class, you'll have an edition of three journals, as well as hands on experience with the process of letterpress printing. We provide all carving tools, inks and paper. You bring your patience and enthusiasm for learning!

In this workshop, you'll learn:

• Linoleum carving and relief printing basics
• How to print your designs with + without a press
• The process of constructing saddle stitch booklets
• The basics of operating a letterpress printer
